Hi all,
I am going to buy the iPad 2 64GB 3G in the US (the AT&T version).
I'd like to make sure the iPad is free of any logo...can you confirm there is no AT&T logo on the iPad2?
Thanks

Ok time for a really noob question, what is folding?
Folding@Home (http://folding.stanford.edu/)
All the Intel clients spawn 4 instances, regardless of how many CPUs you have, as far as I know anyway. This may be a change that they made to optimize it for the Intel machines.

And Dancertom, I was just thinking that myself. I wonder how much apple's computers are gonna be hurt by the huge focus on gadgets...
Well I honestly doubt that it's going to matter. Once all the buzz from MW07 dies down, they'll have a week or two breather, (all's quiet on the Mac front), and then the rumours will start flying again about what the amazing new features on Leopard will be. Then the hype for the computers will be well and truly fired up again, and everyone will have forgotten about how they listened to Jobs shift the focus of Apple Computer Inc. away from computers, to become 'Apple, Inc.'.
It's just a shame, because so many people have been disappointed today. And 'Apple, Inc.' doesn't seem to be bothered.

ok so I was happy to finally install Pro Tools (I'd had issues installing it on my previous machine) and it all went well but it won't recognise my Mbox 2 Pro and since I am still using Pro Tools 8 (which requires hardware to be connected at all times) it won't even start up
I have followed the steps where I do some stuff in the Mbox 2 Pro firmware folder; which failed. then I installed the drivers on a PC and connected it which seemed to work (the light on it stayed solid rather than flashing when it was plugged in) but when I went back to my MBP it still wasn't working so I did some more skimming of the Avid website and found this article:
http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=207933
surely this cant be right, is there any way around it, the only FW drives I have are an 800 drive and a 400 drive with no chain out

A customer walked into a Russian hard-drive repair center complaining about his broken 500Gb USB-drive. He had bought it dirt cheap in China but it had a problem. If you saved a movie to it, it would only play the last five minutes. They opened up the case and found inside a 128-MB flash drive working in looped mode. It displays the correct capacity when you plug it in but when you write to it and run out of space, it just overwrites the old data. Two nuts make it feel like it has the right heft. Crafty, crafty counterfeiters! Caveat emptor, if the price is "too good to be true," it is.consumerist (http://consumerist.com/2011/04/the-magical-chinese-hard-drive.html)
Very Clever! :D

Alright, here's the question: I've got a file that's 900 bytes, but shows up as 4 kb due to the blocks in the file system (or something along those lines that I read a really long time ago). So while the actual file only takes up 900 bytes, it's a 4 kb file. Two of these together make 8 kb, and so on and so forth (I don't really need to tell you that). Well, I'm curious if when someone downloads that file (perhaps as a graphic in my CSS), are they downloading 900 bytes or are they downloading 4 kb?
If they're downloading 4 kb anyway, then if I can make that file a little bit bigger in size or quality that'd make sense, since it won't cost me or the user anything. If someone knows what's going on here, I'd really be grateful for an explanation. Thanks in advance!

Funny had this same issue yesterday morning called apple and the tech was apparently talking to iTunes support over instant message and they kept telling him that I wasn't putting in my password correctly. The guy's supervisor ended up replicating what i was doing and it didnt work for him as well and still the iTunes support person said it was me somehow which was funny cause the tech on the phone just kept apologizing since he knew it wasn't me.
Finally after about an hour they said just what was mentioned here to log out and log back in. That was it. So simple.

Today I connected my iPhone 4 to my Bose speaker that has a specific connection for iPhone, and to my surprise I started getting pop ups to dismiss saying that the device is not compatible. I continued trying until it started to play the music. This was not happening with my iPhone 3gs or recent iPod Touch. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I thought the iPhone 4 was updated and more compatible to issues like these.

I think we are talking about two different things here. If we are talking about persisting a small bit of data then a plist is likely the answer. When it comes to accessing the same data from several classes then singleton is the answer. So in your case you probably want to load data from a plist into a singleton.

Crossloop works pretty well. I've used it when I worked in a NOC and it works PC-Mac, Mac-PC, Mac-Mac, etc. Easy to install and it relies on a access code to share with the person you want to have access to your desktop.

Ryan, you may have found something already but a good place to start can be found at this address, <http://www.gnu.org/software/bash/manual/bashref.html> It is a very comprehensive reference for the bash shell. Cheers.

Do a google search for InsomiaT. It's a fork of InsomniaX that has a system pref pane and works on Snow Leopard. I use it on Lion, works fine. It's in system prefs, so less menu bar clutter! :D
Awesome! I have been needing something but settling for leaving it cracked open.
right after installing it didn't work so I ran sudo kextload /system/library/extensions/insomniat.kext and it works great. A restart probably would have worked but who has an extra 20 seconds to spare? :)

Another observation using a WiFi/3G iPad 2 (Verizon) --
Frequently this iPad 2 will not connect to the 3G network or to known WiFi until the unit is turned off and then back on.
For example, this morning I was sitting in my car in a parking lot and needed to get some information on the web. The area I was in is a good 3G location. I typically keep the 3G off until I need it. I used the Cellular Data on/off slider and turned on the 3G, and even after waiting a few minutes there was no indication of a 3G connection.
With the Cellular Data slider turned on I then used the Airplane Mode slider and turned that on then off. Only when it was turned off did the upper left corner indicate that it was searching for a 3G signal. It never found one.
I had to turn the unit off then back on again to get the 3G connection. I have noticed this as well with WiFi, but not as frequently as the 3G connection.
