Has anyone at the show done 'About This Mac' on a MacBook Air?

I would have thought that the new trackpad options would need new software, but I'm guessing someone would have noticed by now.

(Unless they are just using a bespoke 10.5.1 for the show models, and 10.5.2 will come out when they are actually shipped...?)

Problem is, most iPod utilities I've tried can't transfer the ratings back along with the song file! I know this sounds like a minor little problem, but I took DAYS getting those songs rated and I would HATE to have to do that again! The songs ARE still rated on the iPod; I can see the ratings when I click the iPod icon in the "source" pane on the left. How do I get them all back into iTunes?

    Thanks for any help!!

:( I'm not entirely sure it's possible. I've had a series of issues with my ipod (2nd gen 10GB) and usually the ratings, start/end changes, dB adjustments, etc. end up getting wiped out whenever there's a major problem.

In all likelihood, you'll have to copy the songs back to the machine and start over.

Who knows tho. I might be wrong. Which apps are you using to pull the files off the ipod?

    Ja!

Well, I may go back to my country for the same reasons. I came to the US in January las year. I spent about 40 thousand $$$ already and not good opportunities to work. New York left me traumatized and Miami is a desert.

My first suggestion is to get a hold of a mini DVI to HDMI adapter and see if that port is affected as well.

If that doesn't work, try booting from your boot disc and or/resetting your PRAM.

Now that I think more about it, I do not even know how valuable resetting the PRAM is anymore these days. It doesn't have the same impact it used to.

I have a Mac Mini mid-2009 model, and I bought a Mini-display port to HDMI adapter to hook it up to my LED TV. I have used it over more than a year with XBMC with no problem.

Now, yesterday I unplugged the Mini-Display to HDMI adapter from my Mini because I needed the adapter for a presentation on my Macbook Pro.

Now when I returned home and plugged everything back as it original was, the HDMI output stopped working! TV says No Signal. I checked with different HDMI inputs on my TV. none worked.

I hook up my Macbook Pro with the cable and it works.. So is my Mac Mini suddenly broken!?

What time are you guys planning on lining up there? I was thinking about doing the whole 32 hours again - homage to the iPhone 4 - but wondering what the facilities are like around Apple Sydney. Is it a 24/7 store like 5th avenue?

    It's not open 24hours.

My Mac's hooked up to a Windows machine. I can mount the Windows HD on my desktop, and copy files onto it. However, sometimes when I copy files from Mac to Windows, I see the file copy, it takes a while if it's a big file, then it just appears to delete itself off the Windows machine. Try it again and it usually works, although sometimes I need to try 5 or 6 times before the file will stay there.

This doesn't happen all the time, sometimes a file will copy perfectly, other times it takes several attempts to get the file to stay there. It seems to happen most with .exe files but I have seen it happen with other file types too. It also seems to happen most in the root directory - sometimes I end up making a folder and copying into that, which usually works.

I never have this problem when going from Windows to Mac, just Mac to Windows. My Mac's running 10.2.6 and I don't think I've installed any "special" networking software. The PC's got Windows 2000. I've got a suspicion that my anti-virus may be the culprit, it's Trend PC-cillin 2002.

    Any ideas?

Yes, it's possible. All you have to do is find the location of the song and add it to your personal itunes library, by dragging and dropping via explorer or the file menu.

There isn't an easy way to browse another user's library without physically logging to their account, though. you could use the search function in explorer (for the name of the song) or drill down through the folders manually (C:\documents and settings\USER\my documents\My Music\iTunes). However, depending on how the accounts are set up, you might not be able to browse another user's documents.

One thing you could do, is have each user set their iTunes folder to a single folding in the root of C:\, would make things really easy. That way when anyone bought a song or ripped a CD it would go to a folder everyone can easily access. So if you made a folder in Local Disk, called 'Shared Music' (or whatever), then have each user to to Edit > Preferences > Advances > iTunes Media Folder Location > set it to that shared folder.

The title pretty much says it all. I am currently using a jailbroken iPhone 4, although I only have a few minor things really (biteSMS, LockInfo's InfoShade and notification icons, Weather Icon, stuff like that). I'm creating an iPhone app for a school project and I'm almost done... Now I've decided I'd like to submit it to the App Store.

So my question is... Once I buy the $99 membership, will I be able to test the app on my phone without any problems? It's just a simple tableView app, if that makes any difference.

Basically I just want to test it on my phone, then submit it to the App Store just like normal. When I try to search for this subject on Google, all I get is stuff about bypassing the App Store... talking about manually signing, etc... and that's not what I want. I just want to officially submit an app, and also put that app on my phone, without doing any "workarounds" or anything abnormal.

    Thanks!

Thank you guys for the helpful input. I wonder how many times there have been Virtual PC's with Windows software installed on a MBP. Since this MBP is only 6 months old & I can't presently afford the new CS5, I believe that this approach may be my best option -

I'll go ahead & install the (free) Windows XP Mode and the Windows Virtual PC from the Microsoft download site. I tried numerous settings on Photoshop within the Windows7 Professional 64bit that would not work, so I have uninstalled the Adobe CS(1) to insure that a fresh installation will not have any residual changes from the original settings of the CS software.

I'll post if these Virtual PC & XP Mode downloads are a straightforward install and if the Adobe CS runs as it previously has on XP. I have already had to have Win IE allow & not block the downloads (as is usual).

I purchased the peachpit press books intending to do the Apple Certified System Administrator (ACSA 10.6) exams but havent had time to do so until now. From what iv'e read about discontinuing of xserve and apple looking to move away from this area is it really worth my time and money doing this certification anymore? I want some apple certification to my name. Im wondering if I should just do the Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) 10.6. its only one exam as opposed to four. Any advice would be appreciated thanks

Actually all you have to do is select the images in Aperture then go to the File menu > Relocate Master...

In the next window choose your external drive (make a new folder if you want) and click Relocate Master.

Aperture will move the files to your external drive and, since you're doing all the moving with Aperture, Aperture will know the new location.

    Easy Peasy. :)

@herruberraschen - are there any online at a reasonably affordable price? most iPod classic's earlier than the 7th gen are more expensive (at a new price) than the current gen. :-/

If not I may break down and pay the extra amount for the older 5/5.5 model.

Overstock.com has some cheap ones occasionally
