Disappointing, but expected. This actually brings up more questions than answers though:
1) Is this a permanent move to a Fall Release of the iPhone?
I'm starting to think it will be. If you look at the "big picture" it makes sense. The iPod is in decline, so Apple's previous big Fall music event isn't really big anymore. The iPhone could shore that up and bring lots of sales to 4Q and maybe even, reinvigorate iPod sales.
Apple then uses early summer to push new Macs for back to school. Late winter/early Spring remains iPad.

Mac OS X is so stable that I am perfectly comfortable working for an hour in between saving my open files. If I was likely to run into websites that purposely exploited a flaw to crash my Mac, I'd have to change my habits and live more defensively.
Excellent point.
If you use a notebook or a desktop with a UPS, it can be extremely easy to forget about the fact that reboots may happen at any time, even without fautly software getting in the way. (Lately in Nova Scotia, the culprit has been "salty fog" invading our power substations...) Obviously this is a bug that can cause loss of work (and thus loss of money). And obviously the ultimate solution must be a more graceful failure response by the OS.
But a good stopgap measure to protect from the only potential damage which can so far be demonstrated to potentially come from this vulnerability, would be to enable the autosave feature of your software. That measure requires a one-time investment of effort on your part, and subsequently shouldn't have any effect on your work habits. I have never used any reputable productivity software which didn't have an autosave feature.

This is the absolute worst winter in the New England states that I can recall. I am disenchanted by any more snow and look forward to some warmth. The symbolism is in the image!
I understand exactly, seems what misses us you get if your closer to the coast and the other way around, lovely color in the photo to brighten the mood though :)

What if Apple puts regular Sandy Bridge Processors instead of ULVs. Then, would anyone here consider getting one? Toshiba did it, and they're getting 8+ hours of battery life on their Portege line. CNET has been gushing over Toshiba's Portege Line. That's who Apple should be looking at, not Samsung Series 9.

He is living his life. I agree with a lot of his "quotes". AA is crap, people are trolling him and he may just be a rockstar from Mars (Lil Wayne is an alien after all). He seems to love his kids and his women do too. What's worse? Someone with an alternative lifestyle that takes care of their kids or someone with a "great lifestyle" that beats them on the side. They look healthy to me.
People are pissed because he stood up and talked out about Chuck and many people (union members, yuck) are out of jobs for now. If they were still getting paid they wouldn't be whining. Also it shows how powerful he is if a whole production is shut down without him. Should he go on for others? I don't think so. He doesn't agree with it and won't do it.
I say go epic on the world Mr. Sheen.
+1 If you actually listen to what he says, he makes some pretty good points. I think a lot of people don't listen and just read the headlines, so they assume he is a terrible person. He may not be the best example for kids, but he is doing what he wants with his life because it is... his life, and he seems to be making some pretty strong arguments.
Rock on

That is all it is for most people. I barely know what WWDC is, I just know I usually end up watching a keynote online from it.
Back in the day, Apple participated in user conferences called MacWorld. There was an winter one in San Francisco, and a summer/late summer one on the east coast. There also was a late spring developer conference in San Francisco - but that was mostly irrelevant if you weren't an Apple OSX developer.
Life was good.
But, the turtle-necked overlord got into a hissy-fit with the company that was organizing the conferences.
The summer MacWorld was cancelled for petty reasons. Soon after, Apple withdrew from the winter conference as well.
So, today, the only venue that Apple has control over is the late spring developer conference - which they've co-opted to trumpet whatever the PR department needs at the time.

Say goodbye to co-op (if that's the 4GB model).
The bundle is 250gb.
Have to say, I'm jealous of the Reach buyers. Getting ready to move so need to stick to essential expenditures :(

yeah that's not a bigadv unit. i think you have to download the correct binary before you can use the -bigadv flag (i think). just take a look at stanford's web page for instructions.
I thought I did everything right but... I did find that it was running another wu on 8 cores after I set it up, duh. Fixed that but it still won't pick up the bigadv so I thought maybe they are out of them? it will pick up normal wu's if it can't get bigadv one's. And maybe I need more than 6 GB of ram?

I never watched those shows, so thanks for the information.
I guess that does show it can be done without the world coming to an end.
And now, back on the Charlie front, for those who are simply tired of it all...the Charlie Sheen blocker for Chrome and Firefox (http://content.usatoday.com/communities/technologylive/post/2011/03/getting-tired-of-charlie-sheen-eradicate-him-from-your-browser/1). :DI still say Ted McGinley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Mcginley).McGinley has been called "the patron saint of shark-jumping" by jumptheshark.com founder Jon Hein. This is a reference to the popular and enduring shows which have featured him in their declining years. Such shows include Happy Days, The Love Boat and Dynasty.[6] Hein writes that this is not a comment "on Ted's fine acting skills" and that "he has a great sense of humor about it, too".[7] In one episode of Married... with Children (a show that stayed on the air for six seasons after McGinley's addition to the cast) McGinley himself spoofed this fact by momentarily breaking the fourth wall by asking Al "Another picture, captain? I mean, Fonzie? ....Al?". A 2003 issue of People that focused on McGinley's casting on Hope and Faith was titled "Ted McGinley Is Not a Killer", referencing his reputation for causing shows to jump the shark, though his long involvement with Married... with Children suggests otherwise; his contributions may have enabled the series to have a longer and more successful run.

Apple's stock (APPL in NYSE) has plummeted $68 in the last 30 days (from $198 to $130 or 35%) does anyone know what has caused this? Curious...

Yes, I know why: I bought the stock.

I don't even need to look at the article to know its total. Apple doesn't have the manufacturing and distribution channels to increase their market share by 4% in a quarter. Hell I don't think Dell has that kind of force either.
I think you misunderstood what he was asking (or maybe I'm just really confused).
I think he meant, 'did Apple sell 4.8% of all the computers shipped in that ONE quarter?' or 'does Apple now own 4.8% of the TOTAL computer market?'
Both are possible - although the latter is what the article discusses.

Apple Testing iPhone for T-Mobile USA
Is this some sort of surprise? Apple has tens of billions of dollars in cash. Why would they not be testing iphones for all known carriers, even if they couldn't go to market with it at this time? The only surprise here would be if Apple were not testing an iPhone for T-Mobile.

I lost a bigadv unit too. I think they will credit it back but it will take time.
i hope they do. we'll see.
in the meantime, i'm thinking about putting a few video cards in my 2006 mac pro to fold with - since it's only getting like 3500 ppd running the smp client. i know i'll have to run windows to do the GPU2 client for now, but it might be worth it.
does anyone know if this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133304) card will work? and could i put 2 or 3 or 4 in there?

Any idea where the best place for a black 16 wifi would be? I think that's all I really need, no 3g and i'll only have apps, maybe a movie here or there when traveling, no? Brea is the closest to me but it sounds like a battlefield, i'd prefer a Best Buy since I have giftcards but my recent time spent there makes me feel like i'd rather spend the money in gift cards to not have to go there again.
Or just do what I did. Buy one of whatever they have, and trade for the 16 WiFi and cash.

He's referring to inductive charging, not intelligent bezel, if I am correct.
No, he specifically mentioned the gesture area of the tablet. The quote had nothing to do with inductive charging.
