I know the UK shipping idea is moot but FYI I just got one and it weighed like 24.7 lbs (11-12 Kilos).

No. But if you're only going to use this one time, or sparingly, why not avoid SSH and use something like iFunBox or iPhoneExplorer instead?
Wasn't aware of those, but good idea, I'll do that in the future. I did use OpenSSH to change some icons and the dock, and am considering deleting it since I don't plan to use it after this. So, looks like there'll be no problems then.

3G 10 GB is the same size as the 3G 15 and 20 GB. 3G 30 and 40 GB are a bit thicker.
i *believe* 4G 20 GB is the same size as the 3G 10 GB. it might be slightly slimmer.

Go into the Apps area and check the settings. You're trying to sync music now, so it's trying to sync the apps too, and you haven't transferred them to iTunes, so it's trying to delete them from the iPad as well. I don't have my iPad handy to check settings, but maybe you don't have manually sync selected?

Is any one else having problems with the trackpad scrolling options . I have been trying to improve the scrolling from without inertia to with inertia where it has more IOS movement. Each time I reboot I have to fiddle with the control to get back it to where it is more smoother . Quite frustrating but just want to know if others are experiencing the same thing?

Why use vintage Mac computers? What are some of the appeal for choosing an older computer rather than the latest incarnation?

Why would you want the space bar to act like an enter key?
You'd
have
to
write
sentences
like
this.
Yeah, in a word processing program. Expand your thinking a bit to other types of applications. For example, AutoCad for Windows requires a "return" (enter) to execute a command. Sometimes it takes several of them to get through a sequence. I'm sure many other programs have similar needs for that Enter key. Having the space bar as a substitute is convenient.

No mention about safari or does that fall into the "catch all" browser category. Well it's good to hear that people are making the right choices. If IE was a good product, then I wouldn't bash it ... but it is, and I am.
For windows, Firefox is much better than IE: Hands down.

I'm looking for a program to convert avi files to mpeg. The videos are very choppy when tr ying to view on the computer. I want to convert, and then burn them, so I can watch them.
Versiontracker turned up alot of software that can do it, but I'm broke right now. I need a free solution.I don't get why you want to convert the .avi files. If you install the DivX and 3ivx QuickTime codecs, you can play them in any QuickTime-compatible application as is.

Thanks for the answers, guys.
Not really worried about fraud or anything; I just thought there might be a charge other than tax.
Nope - I've probably bought $20,000 worth of Apple stuff online (no, not all my own - some for my last job). It should go off wihtout a hitch.

I can download itunes and burn it to a disc if you want
Wow, I can't believe I didn't think of that, I'm a genius. The only thing is, Can I download the Windows version onto my mac and burn the .exe onto a disk? I'm trying to set up an old windows PC in the garage and turn it into a jukebox.

Well, this may or may not be common knowledge amongst Mac users... I have been one since 1999 and had no idea until last week... using X11 downloadable from www.apple.com you can download Gimp (free graphics editor mainly used by linux nuts) and OpenOffice (same deal) and use them on your Macintosh.
Granted it takes a few more seconds to load up but I have found both to be quite stable, user friendly, and best of all FREE!

If you don't need the best graphics, then buying a new GPU should be enough. ATI 5770 is only 250$ so if it can make your system last a year or two longer, it should be worth it.
Yeah, I was starting to consider this more. I'm so amazed at how well the Mac Pro 1.1 holds up over time. I only use OS X for my professional side (audio production), and it tears it up just fine with 9GB ram.
Is it really that big of a performance boost between the x1900xt and the 5770?

With all the applications I have installed on it, the device is simply a part of so many activities I do on a day-to-day basis.
This is a serious question.
Were these activities already part of your daily routine, of have you been "conditioned" to include them now that you have an iPhone?

Assuming the above code is in a .mm file (not a .m file) that should be fine. I don't know about connecting an action directly to C++ method, I don't think that would work. But you should be able to connect it to an objective-c method, and inside that use C++ code, including being able to create C++ object and call C++ methods.
You know Objective-C is an extension to standard C, right? Objective-C++ is the same extension applied to C++.

Reinstall the OS.
If you do an "Archive and Install" type of installation, it'll be very easy and will keep all the bookmarks, personal info, photos, music, documents, and everything else in your home folder intact.
Sweet, eh?

Something under the keys, some sort of crud, a hair maybe? This can happen even without spilling liquid on it. Try cleaning under one and see. I've done this a couple of times successfully. I suggest researching how to remove and replace the keys on your unit properly.

i thought this would be as good a place as any to post this. i suffered for the past couple years with that annoying ass gap between songs when itunes plays mixed cds back. just the other month i figured out how to get rid of it. it consolidates the album to one track, but the gap is gone. how to:
insert the cd and pull it up on itunes. click the bar on the far left to arrange the cd by number of song. select all songs that you want to combine into a single track. go to advanced --> join cd tracks. then reimport the cd and voila, listening bliss.
sorry if i'm just a dumb ass and you all already know this ****, but if i can help just one gap sufferer... well, then my post won't die in vain :p

I wouldn't count on a hard drive of any sort changing much at all. Assuming you're not running lots of apps while trying to do this, it's all CPU.
