I think we can all agree that there is a lot of waste in government. The fact is, a lot of it is hard to find. At this point in our financial situation, I agree with across the board cuts. After that, then you continue to cut, where it makes sense, surgically.

Yep. If you are 600lbs overweight, you can afford to (and certainly should) cut fat from your head to your toes. Don'[t cut your head OFF, simply trim it.

    Not hard to understand.

Com'on lads! we are waisting precious time.
i just need one volunteer to split off, or one volunteer to lead the group so i split off.
it really is worth to do this as it cuts down on unproductive turns, which means lees varmints to soil our weapons with.

So we have websites that allow us to track where a dollar goes, how about letting us see where all the money the government spends is going

    Definitely 288.

And no, it doesn't depend on how you read it. Actually, I suppose that's not true. Anyone who looked at the equation and figured out it was 288 was right, and everyone else who sees it otherwise was wrong. :p

Merom and Yonah are replacements for Pentium-M. While Conroe is the replacement for the Pentium D.

That is just marketing. In reality, Merom, Conroe and Woodcrest are all based on exactly the same archicture, with Merom optimised for low power consumption and Conroe optimised for clock speed.

So Steve is saying there is no database of locations? Thats just an outright lie.

iOS uses services from a company called Skyhook to help with location tracking. they use GPS and wifi access points to pinpoint locations faster than GPS.

a lot of android phones used to use it as well but in 2.1 or 2.2 google made it very hard to use anything except google for location. this is why a lot of android phones have slow GPS or it doesn't work as well indoors.

if the data is sent to anyone it's probably to skyhook to improve their service. or maybe apple is doing something similar and building their own location database. do you really think that every time you use GPS it really sends a signal to outer space?

I'd be so pissed/happy if it were to become free... 1 year of .Mac and 2 years of MobileMe.

    Pissed, I spent $99 for 3 years

Happy, more people will have access to MobileMe's benefits.

If one paid for MM, and it went free, apple would most certainly push this money towards either itunes or whatever addtional premium services a FREE MM would offer, which of course they would

We should stop using this as proof. Remember the iPad 2 was supposed to have a Retina display because of this? To make it worse, it's a beta. Slow news day I guess, but look how worked up people get about it. Just stop.

What a stupid statement. Are you aware that Apple is an American company? So is Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, GE and other world-leading companies.

What's your alternative? Can you even name more than one world-class Chinese company?

    *rolls eyes*

While I would tend to agree that there are good American companies and not all of them have shoddy products, you listed a lot of companies that either don't have a physical product, or their products are manufactured overseas.

Apple's computers are assembled overseas, Google's phones are made by foreign countries, I'm not aware of any physical product made by Yahoo, Microsoft is a software company......so on so forth.

I use Eset NOD32 on my pc and i must say it's the best AV software in my opinion after testing many others. Once they make their AV available on mac i will get it. Or if a AV get's its way to the new mac appstore. This way i know i can simply remove it by deleting it (i hope). I just hate installers that spread stuff on my mac. It's so ...windows :)

    @KnightWRX

Glad we agree, but who would ever purchase an ACD? Buying an overpriced, inferiorly performing, glare-crazy Apple display device is the height of Apple brainwashing.

It says a lot that my education college professors owned several back when they were $3000, yet complained about budget cuts. You know the study: Mac users are statistically hippy liberal douches. Like VW Bug owners.

shame really that Apple is resorting to Microsoft-esque tactics. If you can't beat em, just sue em, mentality.

Thats like saying that Coca-Cola should sue Pepsi

Xerox PARC should have aggressively sued Apple when the GUI was becoming commercialized.

NO, Apple did not invent the first GUI Operating System. Xerox made the first GUI in their Alto systems. Xerox only sued (late for that matter) when Apple sued Microsoft for their GUI OS (Windows).

Look's just like an iMac! almost... Stupid patents... Good for Xerox, too bad that playing fair is not helping these days...

Don't get me wrong, I like to have the machines grow in power ever few months better than ever 12 to 18 months like we used to see before the switch.

However I wonder about the financials, how it will affect the inventories every time there is a new processor. Intel is competing for its life with AMD and we all get affected. But so do the manufactorers that have to time their productions so they don't end up with a lot of inventory with the old chip, If they wait too long to release improved machines then the competion gets all the good publicity and gets to be first. If too early, then have to discount a lot of inventory to move it.

Good news can also be bad news, but...... Bring it on, I like it, but watch the bottom line please.:o

If this update isn't less than perfect and awesome then allot of people will be pissed. Notification systems needs to be better well added really since it cant even compare to android but at the same time when they work on it it shouldn't be a copy of android. Something apple-esk...not that I don't think the android notification system isn't cool...I love it but apple always has to be unique. iOS also over all needs some spicing up, I don't mind it but I know a bunch of complainers.

Every time something like this goes down I'm reminded of the original 1984 Apple ad campaign.
    Oh how things have changed.
Apple is now BIG BROTHER with a vengeance.
    Bloody lame
With all our dumb laws there really should be a law that precludes bullies like Apple from using these strong arm tactics.
Apple really have got way too big for their boots.

sounds more like a internet security and windows virus detector then a mac AV.

    ESET Cybersecurity for Mac

mentions ESET Cybersecurity (Home Edition) for Mac OS X

I'm not looking at the ESET stuff in detail but at a glance, the product range is confusing.

I reckon Lion will be the last of cat names used for OS X.

They can't really call the next one Ocelot, for example.

Maybe they'll just call the next release Cat? Cat5? Meow? LOLcat?

    Oblig LOLcat:
