Can anyone with this installed confirm if the animation when opening Folders in Launchpad has been fixed? It was juddery as hell on the previous build.
And what's changed UI wise in this build?
Cheers.

So...10 pages+ of comments around 100,000 unit claim
Official comments from the droid developers around 0.2% share of OS
So 50,000,000 android OS based devices
Gartner shows 67million android based smartphones sold last year alone....
which butthole did htey pull their 100k figure from?
They like have some proprietary internal figures they use to analyze what percentage of iPad / Xoom users they would actually see.

The fall release would reportedly also coincide with the release of a third-generation iPad (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/02/09/ipad-3-to-arrive-this-september/)
iPad 3 this fall? I thought it was next month? iPad 4 this fall and iPad 5 for Xmas would make more sense to me...
If Apple starts playing that game they will loose credibility, customers would be kind of lost. One breakthrough per year is good...no more and for sure no less.

I could see iAd playing a role in this decision. Apple
pays for it through ads. Makes sense.
It makes absolutely no sense.
Steve Jobs said iAd was a way to have Free or low cost apps on the app store and still get the developer a little compensation.
How does that translate into a closed cloud service like Mobileme? Apple isn't trying to be Cupertino Google here.

I think that is not quite true.. hot air rises and the top compartment is not fully closed, last time i saw, there are vents for the HDD's in the "shelf" they slide in that allow hot air to go to the top compartment keeping them a bit fresher, and the PSU even warmer.
Feel free to correct me on this since i only opened the case once and it was like an year ago
while the PSU will get fresh air from the front, it will also get the hot that rises from the bottom, Hot HDD's included.
I'm not exactly sure why Apple put those "vents" in the plate, they sure don't go through the whole panel, though. The compartment to the top is indeed closed apart from a few tiny holes.

There will NOT be a tablet - there is ZERO market for it.
A device already exists that does the work of a tablet PC - its called an iBook.
IF you want a really cheap tablet - try pen and paper.
There maybe "ZERO" interest in a Tablet PC for the M$ implementation of it.
There were MP3 players before the iPod, but Apple made it easy and cool to have one.
The original Toshiba Libretto had a decent following in its day.
The iBook is a close also ran IMHO. Given the comments here there is a desire for something the size of the 10" Sony sub-notebook that would give users the option of a touch screen and keyboard. In particular, if it were very near or under the $1000 price point.

To each his one, yes; but exactly what does Android offer as a platform than iOS doesn't--and I don't mean multiple download sources. What "... more or different things..." are you doing on Android that can't be done on iOS?
-Sync wirelessly (No more messing with that iTunes syncing madness)
-SD Card (Expandable storage)
-File manager (Operates more like a PC)
-Can actually attach files in the stock E-Mail app (IPad cannot)
-Photo file management in stock photo app (Not possible in iPad without iTunes syncing madness)
-USB Port (This is HUGE)
-HDMI (Also pretty huge)
-Decent cameras
-Flash
-UI looks very cool.
Haven`t held a Xoom yet so just working from posted specs..
But I do have an iPad 1. Quite a disappointing experience for a power user.
The games rock though!!

Dammit, I fell at the last hurdle. I get 288 but then clicked 2 by mistake!
Should be split 50/50 but I have skewed it a little.
As many others have said, I followed BODMAS

Division
Multiplication
Addition

how about frontrow and Apple remote?
i know this is a pro machine...
but having these built-in would be great
besides... SJ mentioned that frontrow would be enhanced in Leopard
does this mean that the new Mac Pro would have frontrow as well?

actually crucial already has your ram, apple's basically using an intel 5000 motherboard:

DailyTech previously reported that according to IBM, yields on the Cell processors were extremely poor, and that most Cell processors would ship without all eight cores working. According to IBM, some PlayStation 3 units will have 7-core Cell processors and some with 8-core Cell processors.
what a difference using Intel chips have made. Who would have predicted that they would actually be shipping chips ahead of their own road map after the whole PowerPC painful journey.

Interesting how the guy is a total dick when writing to Steve. Nice to see SJ keeps his cool when these idiots with a massive sense of entitlement choose to hit the send button.
Hes not acting like a dick, he's just worried because of what hes heard.
I know your email to Steve would begin with "Your Royal Appleness" and end with "Your faithful Man-Servant"
The man has heard his phone is tracking his location, and is naturally, entitled to be worried.

The Pro Mac is overdue, but the software isnt ready. Maybe keep a G5 in the works, for people who work and move on with the new Pro Macs.
...
Overdue? How do you figure that? If anything, the entire line is being changed faster than anyone expected. And, given the faster pace, most people have guessed that the MP will arrive at WWDC. So how can it be overdue?

..and in the case of x86-64 (Intel and AMD) the 64 bit mode of operation allows the CPU to expose more registers for use at compile time (and few other improvements). This can improve optimizations that the compiler can make which can improve the performance of the application it builds.
Also the ability to do integer math using 64 bit wide registers with 64 bit wide functional unit can be a decent performance win for several types of tasks.
yeah, what he said :p i knew someone would back me up

It's obvious. The answer is ALWAYS 42.
As for the math, the equation is ambiguous. Another set of parentheses would help.
I love your first answer.
Still disagree with the second part, though..

This question is primarily because I have a Macbook Air.
If Apple are going to release this via the App Store (assuming the speculation is true), does this mean that you don't have to burn Lion to a disk to install it? Or would I have to transfer it to some sort of USB drive first?
I guess I'm asking if you can just double click it in your downloads folder and run the OS installation from there
I think lion creates an installer partition at the root of your hdd so it can put what would go on a CD in there and then install from it, also giving you a recovery like area to boot from and do time machine restores.
Of course I could be wrong there.

Why couldnt you let it slide? Assuming you dont like people imposing their beliefs on you, why would you impose yours on others? I think theres a word for that.
Well considering less than 15% of Japanese are religious at all, you have to wonder who benefits from the prayers. Just the 15% who believe in that stuff? All of them? The person doing the praying? Things that make you go "hmmmm".

Weve never had a game like this before, so you shouldnt let this put you off.
if we explore is that our move and then the villain makes his? Or if we pick a door would this be a way to avoid the villains traps, since he may have put one in the room were in?
I would think that the traps have already been laid. So you may have a point in choosing another room.

I think that is exactly right on all accounts and not farfetched at all.
The only things is that the phoneclient will simply be Ichat and not skype.
People have noticed recently that ichat isnt the best tool for the job that it's meant to do. An overhaul (as part of leopard?) would need to take place and could be part of the whole strategy.

You may be right. What's nice though is Apple is giving us an option for once. I'll be picking up my copy on DVD at a local Apple store.
Potentially replace 'for once' with 'for now'.

Well, I bought my iMac Core Duo this Wednesday. Yes, AFTER Tuesday. I kinda needed it since I've waited since June for a new Mac.
Heck, I've been waiting about 2-years now for the PowerBook G5/MacBook Pro Merom. I was gutted that they weren't announced on Monday but wasn't expecting them to be shipping anyway until much later this month or September. Anyway, looks like it'll be just over another month before an announcement plus however many days it takes to configure one and send it to me.
