wow clearly no one in your family should not be hind the wheel of a car.
You all do road rage.
One day someone will pull a gun on you.
Sadly the cop was a crappy investigatory because your mom did an illegally lane changed. plus road rage and really there was a lot of room to prove it but you had a lazy cop and then a mother who lies and teachers her son to lie and pull the same crap.
Speaking of road rage: Recently my Nana leaned out the window of her car and shook her fist at a taxi driver because he accidentally cut her off or something. It was so funny, and it was good that the taxi driver didn't take offense ;)

You must be a barrel of laughs on a shopping trip:
Salesperson: May I help you?
LagunaSol: Yes, I'd like to buy that big white iPhone 3GS over there.
Salesperson: (confused) Uh, you mean the Galaxy Tab?
LagunaSol: No, no, the 3GS. It's right there.
Salesperson: Sir, they're only vaguely the same shape.
LagunaSol: I don't care, it's a big 3GS, I can tell !
Salesperson: Yeah... okay.
Believe it or not but judging by some replies in this thread there are people THAT stupid and quite a few of them out there.
It's not even funny anymore. The age of retards is where we are.

A rumor about a Mac? This is getting weird:rolleyes:
Seriously though, I hope they really kick butt with this refresh...and give the iMac a good GPU for once*

Who has room for two external displays on a desk that already has a 27" iMac?! Dual outs on the MBP would make much more sense, although achieving it may be more of a technical challenge in terms of GPU power.
ETA: Of course, having an external display connected directly and using the other ThunderBolt port for non-display ThunderBolt devices makes much sense, especially seeing as ThunderBolt devices can't be daisy-chained after a display. So I'm not saying the two ports don't make sense.

I'm all for AIDS prevention, but there's not a single aspect of this story that doesn't strike me as crass and exploitative.
Agreed. Apple should stop being so exploitative and give nothing! :o
Apple's not the first in the RED program. Maybe the program HAS done some good and thus is continuing?
Here's a challenge. How about everyone here who has an iPod gives $10 or equivalent to this charity?
Hmmm.... a matching program would be cool--it could all be done electronically, like when Apple has had disaster charity giving built right into iTMS.
So when you buy a Red iPod, you pick the price :) If you pay more than normal, Apple will match your donation, and will pay a minimum of 10% regardless.

same price as the old 20 Incher.
Don't bet on it. I'd say a cool $2000 for that rig. Expect the current prices to stay intact.

Don't forget the 42" HD monitor Apple will drop at the event. What else did you think Apple would let you watch a movie on? (beside your iPod of course)
Bring it on!

My question is, will the movies have subtitles/captioning. As a hearing impaired user, that's the deal breaker for me. If they do have captioning, I can see myself purchasing a few movies once in a while (Though I'd still rather have DVDs most of the time). If not, no way.

This the more expensive version of that, except that is HD. Umm I wonder if you can steal the movie by picking up the stream from the air? LOL there goes DRM.
If it takes several hours to download a movie over the Internet....... How do I transmit the same movie over 802.11g in 2 hours or less to my tv?
Stick to the cables, you need 802.11n minimum to do this and it will kill your home network. Nobody else at home can do anything else.
Maybe I'm not doing this math right, but I'm not sure that's true. I can download a 4.7GB movie in about 2-3 hours over my internet connection (average speeds of 500Kb/sec). A 802.11a or g router transfers data at a max rate of 54Mbps or about 6.75MB/sec. That's about 12 times as fast, meaning that transmitting full DVD-quality video can occur in realtime, with plenty of bandwidth to spare to other functions while watching your movies. By the time HD video recording becomes standard, the Apple video airport express can be upgraded to 802.11n to provide even more bandwidth.
Do I have those figures wrong?

I'd say a refresh of the Mac Mini and/or iMac might happen. Why would they call both of the existing models 'early 2006' (esp. the mini) in this page.

What else would you expect to hear? No company would just bow down and give up....
Samsung couldn't pull out on any existing deals, otherwise they'd be in breach of contract.
They could supply some botched batches of screens and such. Apple has to watch out. They're doing great, no need to b**** about such little things. Stuff looks similar if they're in the same market. As long as it's not 99% identical they should just carry on making money:cool:

Core 2 is a significantly different beast architecturally from Yonah to Merom. Merom has Intel's clone of AMD's cloned/extended x86 instruction set*, 64-bit instructions as well as long overdue changes to handling of old instructions, allowing this generation of CPUs to better utilize registers.
The Yonah is not related to Intel's big disaster chip, the Pentium D 810, but was botched to the point that the engineers turned off EMT64!

The only downside to the bumped up resolution is the increased download time. Last year, I was able to download Battlestar Galactica eps in about 20 minutes... the other night I downloaded a higher res episode and it took nearly an hour... granted, my DSL isn't the best in the land and the quality was noticably better, although the previous resolution was still fine (I have my iMac hooked via DVI to a 46" Samsung DLP HDTV... front row lets me select and play the shows from my couch) but the extra time caused my wife to say "well, lets just download it overnight and watch it tomorrow"... not a huge deal or anything, but a slight step backwards from the convenience angle. It's too bad you can't choose the resolution you want to download at.
Maybe they could make iTunes let you start playing your TV show download before it's finished, like they let you do with movies?

I bet you think the iPad makes a better e-book reader than the Kindle as well huh?
Im with you on the glossy iMacs, there AWFUL to actually sit in front of and use for any lenght of time, talk about eye strain.
MATT option iMac and im there in a flash, but im not holding out hope, the 1600 ive sat waiting for a new desktop is more and more likely going towards a home built i7 sandybridge rig, and windows 7 so that when i sit with my back to the window the screen doesnt just refelect the outside world and i have to squint through it rather than just see what im working on. I dont need a tree or a bus in my spreadsheets or word documents thank you apple.
I Love my Macbook pro, with its MATT screen, i cant justify a MacPro expense, and the Mac Mini just doesnt cut it at the graphics card level, so that leaves the iMac, love the form factor, love the OS, hate the unusable migrane inducing shiney screen.
However,
the iPad i prefer the glossy screen, same with the iPhone, but then the occasions ill be using an iPad require me to have a bright colour screen for PDFs, and the lighting is usually bad enough that the reflective qualities are not a problem.

No one refers to McDonald's as Burger Store. Their brand name is so strong that people actually say McDonald's because that logo and name is pretty much seared into everyone head.
i do .. it's kinda catchy .. my 2yo calls it "old mcdonalds" because of .. you know .. that song
language is use .. didn't we learn anything from Wittgenstein?

This adds nothing to the discussion but at first I thought - "shoot" I just got my 27" iMac in January! Then I remembered I bought a "refurb" so I'd have to wait at least another 3 months before the new models started to show up in the refurb store. And with 12GB of RAM my i7 is by far the best computer I have ever owned, fast, quiet, and what a beautiful screen!
Like my iPad1, going to skip this generation and wait for the next.

How does streaming music to my iPhone help me, when O2 cap my Internet usage, and then charge when you use more.
This is one of the many scenarios that make me wonder why "cloud based" services are so pursued. Lack of signal, in any way, means your device is useless.
Coupled with the probability that within a decade there will be cheap memory to hold everything the vast majority of users wants/possesses, this cloud-based stuff seems more like a control issue than a service provided.

Microsoft is still doing very well. They're making the best products they ever have done and as a customer I am very pleased with all of my Microsoft purchases.
- Zune desktop software
- Zune hardware and mobile software
- Windows Phone 7
- Windows 7
- Office 2010
- Office 2011 for Mac
- Xbox 360
- Xbox Live
All great products and deserve to be class leaders if they are not already. I can't think of another company (including Apple) that has put out such a fantastic range of very good products.
Zune? Uhm...no, not really. The Zune is discontinued, at least in the long run. Current models will remain available for a while, but new ones will not come out.

I don't usually speculate, but I find it interesting "Showtime" is capitalized. Could the downloads be part of some partnership with the cable channel? Just wild speculation on my part.
